POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The Indians closed out the regular season on the right note with a 2-1 win at No. 10 Pearl River on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats scored a quick goal to start the second to take a 1-0 lead over ICC. Shortly after, Will Barber (Kent, England) found the equalizer to make it a 1-1 contest with 42:08 remaining. Barber then scored his second goal of the evening to put the Indians in front, 2-1, with 9:57 to play.
The Indians denied Pearl River's chances of tying the match in the final minutes to finish with the 2-1 win.
Barber and Braden Walters (Caledonia) each led the Indians with a pair of shots of goal while Niclas Schulze (Hoersholm, Denmark) added one. William Blake (Fulton) recorded five saves in the victory.
The Indians will start postseason play on Saturday, Nov. 2 when they travel to Raymond to face No. 14 Hinds at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
