Lady Indians knock off defending national champs, 2-0

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians picked up a milestone victory over Jones College on Friday.

The No. 20 Lady Indians (9-2-1, 4-2-1 MACCC) picked up its second win of the season over a ranked opponent with a 2-0 win over No. 5 and defending national champion Jones College (8-3, 4-3 MACCC).

It was the first win over the Lady Bobcats since 2008.

Isobel Kinsella (Gloucestershire, United Kingdom) set the tone for the Lady Indians with a goal 45 seconds into the match. Millie Webb (Rugby, England) push the lead out to 2-0 when she sent home a rebound in the 26th minute, a carbon copy of Kinsella's goal.

A sliding block from Addy Stanford (Tupelo) negated the Lady Bobcats' best scoring opportunity with less than six minutes left in the match.

Annabelle Holman (Amory) recorded four saves and her seventh shutout of the season.

The Lady Indians will be back in action on Tuesday against Southwest Mississippi Community College (5-6-2, 2-5 MACCC) before hosting East Central Community College (0-7-2, 0-6-1 MACCC) Friday for their final home match of the season.
