Indians finish eighth in MACCC Preview Tournament

TUNICA, Miss – The men's golf team finished the final round of the MACCC Preview Tournament on Tuesday in eighth place.

The Indians finished the tournament at 63-over, shooting 639 across the 36-hole tournament. ICC best round came on the final day of play as the Indians carded a 317 (+29), cutting five shots off their day one total.

Elliott Overton (Winfield, AL) finished tied for 21st at 14-over for the tournament. Overton shot an 82 (+10) to finished tied for 35th on day one but climbed up the leaderboard 15 spots with a 76 (+4) on day two.

Woods Mitchell (Eupora) and Watkins Dumas (Starkville) each finished tied for 29th at 17-over. Mitchell carded an 84 (+12) on Monday and jumped 14 spots with a 77 (+5) on the final day of play. Dumas turned in an 80 (+8) on the opening day of play and closed out the tournament with an 81 (+9).

Cooper Williamson (Starkville) fired an 81 (+9) on Monday before carding an 83 (+11) to finish in sole possession of 37th at 20-over. Hayden Williams (Corinth) finished 39th at 21-over after shooting a 79 (+7) and 86 (+14).

Meridian picked up the win as a team at 19-over, carding a two-day 595 total. Bruce McClung of Meridian earned medalist honors at 142 (-2) for the tournament.

The Indians will be back in action at the Wolf Pack Invitational hosted by Co-Lin on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1 at Wolf Hollow Golf Course.
