Domingues, Rubio storied careers come to an end in nationals

TYLER, Texas – Rayssa Domingues and Lucia Rubio dropped tough matches in the Round of 16 of the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas.
Domingues fell in No. 1 singles to Helen Hernandez (Jones), 6-1, 6-3, while Rubio dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Marqaylar Tere (Collin) in No. 2 singles.
The duo then teamed up in No. 1 doubles and put up a strong fight but fell 6-1, 6-4 to Hernandez and Molly Bennett (Jones).
Domingues and Rubio finish their run in the NJCAA National Tournament with four points each and an appearance in the Round of 16.
Despite the early exits, the tournament capped off an exceptional season and career for both players. Domingues finishes as the MACCC No. 1 Singles runner-up and holds a No. 21 national singles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). She and Rubio also earned a No. 25 national doubles ranking, closing the season with a 9-7 overall record in tandem play.
