
PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 21 Lady Indians picked up a 4-3 victory over UT Southern on Wednesday.
The Lady Firehawks started the match with a 1-0 lead after doubles play. Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Rayssa Dominguez (Bebedouro, Brazil) dropped No. 1 doubles to Yen-Ju Chang and Otone Odajima, 6-2; Melina Vasquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Presley Thomas (Oxford) fell at No. 2 to Natalia Vergara Campus and Sienna Roburto, 6-0. Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) and Ainsley Robison (Guntown) dropped No. 3 to Victoria Sanches and Ali Hamilton, 6-3.
The Lady Indians shifted the momentum into their favor in singles play when Dominguez took No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Hamilton, followed by Rubio picking up the 6-2, 6-3 win over Lucia Zambrana at No. 2. and Vazquez securing No. 3 after defeating Gabriel Kirkley, 6-0, 6-0. Thomas dropped No. 4 to Ana Olano by the score of 7-5, 6-1, and Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) fell to Anna Wernerowicz at No. 5, 6-4, 7-5. Robison secured ICC's final victory of the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bailey Cantrell at No. 6.
ICC will play again on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. against East Central in Decatur.
