Indians rally to beat Mississippi Delta, 35-17

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians scored 21 unanswered points in the final six minutes of the game to rally for a 35-17 win over Mississippi Delta on Thursday to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Trailing 17-14, Jaylen Sulton (Southaven) capped off a 10-play, 64-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run to give the Indians a 21-17 lead after the successful extra point attempt by Eli Burciaga (Corinth).

Sulton finished with a season-high 94 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, including a 61-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Jaylen Foster (Greenwood, SC) scored on a five-yard touchdown run to put the Indians up 28-17 before Dylan Rowsey (Rienzi) put the game on ice with a 43-yard interception returned for a touchdown with 1:10 left in the game.

The Indians had 364 yards of offense (194 rushing; 170 passing). Ty Davis (Fulton) overcame two early interceptions to complete 12-of-19 passing for 170 yards and a touchdown. Zae Davis (Rienzi) had nine receptions for 108 yards and a four-yard touchdown catch. Mykel Allen (Batesville) had a season-best 106 yards on 17 carries.

Defensively, Rowsey had eight solo tackles to go along with his 43-yard pick six, and Alex Dawkins (Columbus) returned an interception for 34 yards.

The Indians (4-1, 2-0 MACCC North) head into the bye week with their best start since opening the 2013 season with five-straight wins.

ICC will travel to Clarksdale to take on Coahoma (0-5, 0-3 MACCC North) on Thursday, October 10. The Indians will return home, October 17, to face nationally-ranked Holmes (5-0, 3-0 MACCC North) for Homecoming.
