
SUMMIT, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's tennis team was dominant throughout Tuesday's match at Southwest, picking up the 9-0 victory.
The Lady Indians started the contest with early momentum in doubles play. Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Rayssa Dominguez (Bebedouro, Brazil) took No. 1 with an 8-1 win while Melina Vasquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Presley Thomas (Oxford) picked up the 8-1 victory at No. 2. Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) and Ainsley Robison (Guntown) won No. 3 by forfeit.
In singles play, ICC continued its dominance. Dominguez defeated Martina Troncoso Morales in a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 1, and Rubio took down Kayla Eby with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2. Vazquez and Thomas secured No. 3 and 4 respectively with a pair of 6-0, 6-1 wins. Robison (No. 5) and Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) (No. 6) won their courts by forfeit.
