
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians picked up their first conference win after defeating East Mississippi, 2-1, on Friday.
ICC (3-3-1, 1-0-1 MACCC) struck first in the match after Will Barber (Kent, England) netted a goal on an assist from Alfredo Guerra (Capaccio, Italy) with 27:43 left in the first half.
After halftime, Osvaldo Gonzalez (Olive Branch) scored on a penalty kick to put the Indians up 2-0 with 30:27 left to play.
Shortly after, the Lions (0-6, 0-2 MACCC) cut into the ICC lead after scoring on a penalty kick, but the Indians held on for the 2-1 win.
Barber led the Indians with two shots on goal while Leander Breidenbruecker (Bizau, Austria), Luke Dearsley (Sydney, Australia), Vincent Walters (Hernando), Quint Hofstee (Eindhoven, Netherlands) and Braden Walters (Caledonia) each added one.
Despite allowing a goal, William Blake (Fulton) recorded three saves in the win.
The Indians will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when they host Holmes for a 3 p.m. conference matchup at the ICC Soccer Complex.
