FULTON, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's soccer team took a 3-2 victory over No. 20 Gulf Coast in thrilling fashion at the ICC Soccer Complex on Friday.
ICC got on the board first when Isobel Kinsella (Gloucestershire, UK) found a window to put the Lady Indians up 1-0. Shortly after, the Lady Bulldogs found the equalizer to make it a 1-1 contest at halftime. After the break, Vanessa Baugatz (Berlin, Germany) put the Lady Indians back in front, 2-1, not even a minute into the second half. With 38:35 to play, Gulf Coast tied it back up at 2-2. It wasn't until the final minutes of the match when Lauren Sharples (Liverpool, England) scored the game-winning goal for the Lady Indians on a header with 2:25 left.
Baugatz, Kinsella and Liv Norris (Hernando) each had two shots on goal while Sharples had one. Annabelle Holman (Amory) recorded nine saves in the victory.
ICC will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 when they travel to Senatobia to face No. 1 Northwest at 5 p.m.
