The ICC
baseball program began a new era in 1983 with the opening of
newly-built Crubaugh Field. Named after the late former ICC
president, John S. Crubaugh, the facility gives Itawamba one of the
finest community college facilities in the nation. A
state-of-the-art lighting system was installed during the summer of
2001. The system, which surpasses NCAA specifications,
includes 104 1500-watt Metal-Halide lights mounted on eight 70-foot
steel poles.
In 2012, the stadium was renamed Roy Cresap Field after former
Hall of Fame baseball coach Roy Cresap.
The main grandstand, which seats 1,000 with a concrete area on
both sides to accommodate lawn chair seating, features a press area
for the P.A. announcer, scoreboard operator, radio personnel and
local media. In addition, from dugout to dugout, there is a brick
backstop (similar to Wrigley Field) with netting.
On the field the Indians benefit from spacious sunken dugouts and
play on a plush natural turf playing surface. A crimson stone
infield surface and complete warning track surface were installed
during renovations prior to the 2000 season. The home of the
Indians also features a complete drainage and irrigation system.
The outfield fence is lined with beautiful cedar trees as well as
large pines behind the left field wall. In left field fans can
enjoy a 20' x 20' deck that rises above the fence for an incredible
view of the action.
Winner of the 1997 Scot's Field of the Year Award, Roy Cresap
Field also boasts a restroom/concession area, batting tunnel/drill
area and a large scoreboard.
