
FULTON, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College volleyball team sent its sophomores off on a good note with a 3-0 win over Bevill State on Sophomore Day in three sets (25-15; 30-28; 25-22).
After taking care of business in the first set, 25-15, the Indians took a 2-0 match lead with a hard-fought and extensive 30-28 win in the second, then they secured the match victory with a 25-22 win in the third.
On the attack, Lexi Pendleton (Germantown, Tenn.) led the way for the Indians with 19 kills with Bree Lyons (Oxford) and McLaine Dorr (Gluckstadt) each adding eight. Presley Jones (Killen, Ala.) had a team-best 25 assists and Pendleton added 12. Jones, Lyons and Kensley Woolbright (New Hope) each had eight digs throughout the match.
The Indians will begin postseason play on Friday, Nov. 1 when they face Jones at 4 p.m. in the semifinal round of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament held at Northwest Mississippi Community College.
