
FULTON, MS - The Indians opened conference play with a pair of losses to Gulf Coast.
Game 1: Bulldogs 4, Indians 1
The Indians put up a strong fight but fell to Gulf Coast 4-1. An early defensive miscue allowed the Bulldogs to take the lead in the first, and they extended their advantage with a solo homer in the second.
Everett Thompson kept the Indians in the game with six solid innings on the mound, allowing just one earned run while striking out six. However, the Bulldogs added another home run in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Houston Green provided the lone RBI for Itawamba, while Stone Collier, Jude Treadaway, Bryson Jackson, and Madden Butler each collected a hit.
Game 2: Bulldogs 6, Indians 2
Jud Files put together a dominant pitching performance, striking out 10 batters, but the Indians fell to Gulf Coast Bulldogs 6-2 in the nightcap.
Files allowed just three runs over four and two-thirds inning.
The Indians tied the game in the third when Treadaway crushed a home run to center field. The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead in the fourth and added three more runs in the sixth with a home run to left field.
Treadaway and Nathan Ferris each collected two hits, and both players drove in a run.
