Indians hold off rival Tigers in 6-3 win

FULTON, Miss. – Itawamba Community College's Indians held off rival Northeast in a 6-3 match victory at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Thursday.

Although Knox Waterer (Belden) and Jack Semper (Hackney, England) fell in an 8-4 decision to Tomas Aramburu and Kevin Kotze in No. 1 doubles, Luca Hoffmann (Starkville) and Santiago Diaz (Buenos Aires, Argentina) picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 2 while Ben Orr (Fulton) and Sawyer Ritchie (Pontotoc) secured No. 3, 8-3, to give ICC a 2-1 lead after doubles play.

In singles, Waterer dropped a hard-fought, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 decision to Aramburu at No. 1 singles. Semper secured No. 2 with a 7-6 (0), 7-5 win, and Diaz picked up a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 3. Hoffmann fell short against John Parker at No. 4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, but ICC secured the match after Orr took No. 5 in a 6-2, 6-0 win. Ritchie finished No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

The Indians will play again on Tuesday, March 25, at 2 p.m. at Northwest.
