
ELLISVILLE, MS - The Indians earned a split with No. 4 Jones College in conference play.
Game 1: Bobcats 4, Indians 3
Friday's game against No. 4 Jones College ended in a tough 4-3 loss for the Indians after losing the lead late in the game.
The score was tied at three in the bottom of the sixth when the Indians walked in the game-winning run.
Despite out-hitting Jones 7-6, The Indians couldn't capitalize on their chances. Stone Collier and Madden Butler each collected two hits.
The Indians initially took the lead in the first inning. Reid Kent grounded out, scoring one run, followed by a single from Collier that brought in two more.
An error in the bottom of the fifth allowed Jones to tie the game.
Brock Ware took the loss for the Indians, pitching five and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits.
Collier had two runs batted in, going 2-for-3.
Game 2: Indians 9, Bobcats 3
Evan McCarthy powered the Indians to a 9-3 victory over Jones in Game 2, driving in four runs on three hits. His two doubles in the third and second innings were key to the win, with McCarthy bringing in three runs in the third and one in the second.
The Indians took an early 3-0 lead, with Stone Collier hitting a sacrifice fly in the first and McCarthy doubling to extend the lead in the second. The lead grew to 7-0 after McCarthy's double in the third.
Nathan Ferris earned the win, pitching 3 and 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits.
