
DECATUR, Miss. – The No. 21 Lady Indians picked up their second-consecutive win with a 7-2 road victory over No. 22 East Central on Friday.
Although Melina Vasquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Presley Thomas (Oxford) picked up an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles, ICC fell behind 2-1 after doubles play with Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Rayssa Dominguez (Bebedouro, Brazil) dropping a 9-7 game at No. 1 and Ainsley Robison (Guntown) and Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) falling 8-6 at No. 3.
In singles play, the Lady Indians shifted the momentum in their favor. Dominguez opened with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 with Rubio securing No. 2 with a 3-6, 7-6(1) [10-4] victory and Vazquez picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3. Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) earned a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(5) win at No. 4 while Thomas won No. 5, 6-2, 6-2, and Joshlin secured No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
The Lady Indians will be back in action on Tuesday, April 1, for a 2 p.m. road match against Southwest in Summit.
