
SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Lady Indians dropped a hard-fought road match against Northwest on Tuesday, 5-4.
In doubles play, ICC got the win at No. 1 with Lucia Rubio (Valencia, Spain) and Rayssa Dominguez (Bebedouro, Brazil) picking up an 8-3 victory. Melina Vasquez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Presley Thomas (Oxford) dropped No. 2 doubles against Laura Camara Blanco and Mattison Sanders, 8-2, and Caitlyn Ard (Pontotoc) and Ainsley Robison (Guntown) fell to Kendall Moody and Allie Rawles at No. 3, 8-5.
In singles, Dominguez took No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Macarena Arisio and Rubio followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Claudia Lopez Chaparro at No. 2. Vazquez fell in a 6-4, 6-2 decision against Camara Blanco at No. 3 singles; Thomas dropped a 6-2, 6-2 game to Sanders at No. 4; and Robison fell to Margaret Daves at No. 5, 6-0, 6-2. Addison Joshlin (Saltillo) got the Lady Indians their last win of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 outcome over Rawles.
The Lady Indians will be back in action on Wednesday, March 26, for a 2 p.m. match with UT Southern in Pulaski, Tenn.
