
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians picked up a conference sweep over Hinds at Roy Cresap Field on Friday, securing Coach Rick Collier's 700th win with the program.
Game 1: Indians 16, Eagles 7
The Indians secured Coach Collier's 700th win at the helm of the program with a dominant 16-7 victory in game one over Hinds.
Hinds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added a run in the top of the second and third each to go up 4-0. In the bottom of the third, the Indians got on the board when Nathan Ferris used a sacrifice fly to score Hank Stalnaker and Luke Wood scored on a passed ball.
ICC took the lead with five runs scored in the bottom of the fourth when Jude Treadaway hit a two-run home run to tie it up at 4-4, then Madden Butler singled to score Ferris to give the Indians the lead. Stone Collier scored after Bryce Glenn was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jarrett Morris used an RBI single to score Butler.
After Hinds answered with a home run in the fifth, the Indians tacked on seven more runs in the sixth courtesy of a double by Evan McCarthy that scored Butler, an RBI single from Morris, a double by Stalnaker that scored Glenn, a 2 RBI double from Jude Treadaway and a single from Collier to score Ferris.
The Eagles scored two in the top of the eighth and ICC responded in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of insurance runs with a sacrifice fly by Treadaway that scored Stalnaker followed by a solo home run from Ferris.
Will Lipscomb was the pitcher of record for the Indians, going five and two-thirds innings as he struck out four batters and walked two while giving up three runs on six hits.
At the plate, Collier went 3-for-6 while Treadaway, Ferris, Butler, McCarthy and Morris each added two hits. Treadaway led the way for ICC with five RBIs.
Game 2: Indians 7, Eagles 2
The Indians completed the sweep over Hinds with a 7-2 victory in game two.
The Indians opened the scoring in the second when Nathan Ferris delivered a 2 RBI double. Four more ICC runs crossed home plate in the third to extend the lead 6-0 after Bryson Jackson hit a three-run home run followed by an RBI double from Jude Treadaway.
The Eagles cut into the ICC lead with two runs in the fourth, and the Indians got one back in the fifth when Treadaway grounded out to the shortstop, allowing Jackson to score.
Nathan Reed was the pitcher of record for ICC, picking up two strikeouts while giving up two hits in two and two-thirds innings.
Jackson led the Indians at the plate with two hits and three RBIs while Ferris went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs.
