
JACKSON, TENN. – The Indians (3-1) split their doubleheader against Jackson State (1-3), securing a 3-0 win in the opener before falling 6-5 in a tightly contested nightcap.
Game 1: Indians 3, Greenjays 0
A clutch single to left by Stone Collier drove in Nathan Ferris and Jude Treadaway, giving the Indians a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth. Reid Kent added an insurance run with an RBI single in the seventh to seal the victory.
Noah Robinson (1-0) earned the win, allowing just one hit over 3.1 scoreless innings. Nathan Reed pitched 3.2 shutout frames, surrendering four hits while striking out one.
Kent led the offense with two hits in three at-bats, while Collier and Ethan McCarthy each added a hit—McCarthy's going for a double.
Game 2: Greenjays 6, Indians 5
Madden Butler put the Indians on the board early with a solo home run in the second inning. McCarthy followed with an RBI double in the fourth, plating Collier for a 2-0 advantage.
The Greenjays responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth to take their first lead of the day.
The Indians reclaimed the lead in the sixth, 5-4, behind a McCarthy home run, a Ferris RBI single scoring Butler, and a Jarrett Morris base hit bringing in Kent.
Jackson State tied it up with a two-out RBI double and capitalized on an Indian error to take a 6-5 lead heading into the seventh. The Indians put the tying run aboard with a leadoff walk, but the Greenjays held on for the win.
McCarthy had a standout performance with a home run and a double, while Butler tallied two hits, including a homer.
