
FULTON, Miss. – Itawamba Community College picked up a split with Calhoun at Andy Kirk Field on Monday.
Game 1: Indians 5, Warhawks 0
A strong performance on the mound by Alyssa Clifft helped the Indians pick up the 5-0 shutout victory in game one over the Warhawks.
ICC struck first in the third inning when Maddie Porter, Lauren Brown and AB Marlar each scored on a bases-loaded walk. Joryie McKnight also scored on a steal of home to make it a 4-0 advantage for the Indians.
Marlar put a stamp on the game one victory with a solo home run in the fifth to put the Indians up 5-0.
Clifft picked up the win for ICC, striking out 11 batters while allowing two hits in the complete game effort.
McKnight, Marlar, Brown, Porter and Taylar Shands each collected a hit for the Indians.
Game 2: Warhawks 9, Indians 1 (6 innings)
The Indians fell victim to a late surge from Calhoun to drop a 9-1 decision in game two, in six innings.
After the Warhawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, ICC found the equalizer in the bottom half when Maddie Porter hit a solo home run to left.
Calhoun broke the tie in the fifth with four runs and added four more in the sixth to pick up the 9-1 win.
Ella Lilly was the pitcher of record for the Indians, picking up four strikeouts and walking three batters while surrendering six runs on nine hits in five innings of work.
Porter, AB Marlar and Tayler Graham each had a hit for ICC.
