FULTON, MS -- The Itawamba Community College Indians soccer team scored three unanswered goals late in the second half to rally for a 4-3 victory over Union University on Tuesday.
Taylor Nabors (Tupelo HS) powered home a free kick to give the Indians (1-2-0) a 4-3 lead with 1:36 left in the contest.
"Hopefully this was a sign of a good team not playing their best, but still finding a way to win," said ICC soccer coach Mike Sullivan.
ICC feel behind 3-1, when Estevan Garcia (Corinth HS) found Hunter McGhie (Tupelo HS) before Ashley Page (Chelsea HS, AL) tied the game off an assist from Daniel Cox (DeSoto Central HS) late in the second half.
"We battled hard this past weekend and couldn't find a way to come away with a win, but the guys learned from that and dug a little deeper to get the win," Sullivan said after the Indians' first win of the season.
Cox scored the Indians' lone goal in the first half.
The Indians are scheduled to travel to Bethel University on Friday, but pending weather and field conditions the game could be rescheduled to a date to be announced.
