
Fulton, Miss. – Two of the first members of the Itawamba Community College volleyball program will continue their careers at the next level.
Sophomore libero Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) will continue her career at Mississippi College, and sophomore outside hitter Mary Leslie Cranford (Covington, Tenn.) is headed to the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Bakeris led the Indians with 387 total digs and 3.62 digs per set this season. She also had42 assists, 30 service aces and 12 kills. In her freshman season, Bakeris had a team-high 303 digs, 4.66 digs per set and added 45 assists, 27 service aces and two kills. She will join the Choctaws in January.
Cranford led the Indians' offensive attack this season with a team-high 263 kills and 2.86 kills per set. She also had 189 digs, 29 assists, 24 total blocks and 20 service aces. During her freshman season, Cranford had 138 kills, 2.12 kills per set and added 36 assists and 19 total blocks. Cranford will join the Skyhawks in January.
The duo helped the Indians to a 19-12 record this season and to National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Gulf District Tournament postseason berths in both of their seasons.
