
Fulton, Miss. – In the final game of the ICC / NWCC Crossover Tournament, the Indians defeated Southern Union State, 3-0.
It weas a close contest early on, but the Indians (10-5) pulled away to a 20-9 lead during the opening set. Southern Union State tried to put together a run late in the set, but the Indians were able to hold on to the get to 25-16 set victory.
In the second set, the Indians battled to hold off the surging Bison to pick up a 25-20 win.
The Indians went on to win the third set, 25-17, and picked up the 3-0 win to go 3-0 in the tournament.
Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) had another good performance while on the attack pick up a team-high 10 kills in the contest.
Sarah Allyn Thornell (Atoka, Tenn.) picked up 20 assists, and the duo of Angie Gonzalez (Walls) and Londyn Bakeris (Olive Branch) combined for 23 digs.
The Indians will host Bevill State Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m., before traveling to Pearl River Friday for a key regional showdown.
