
Spartanburg, SC. – After finishing up their first day at the Spartanburg Methodist Invitational, the Indians opened day two with a hard-fought battle with Roane State (Tenn.) but fell 3-1.
Set One: Indians 27, Raiders 25
It was a competitive battle from the start, but the Indians (1-2) fell behind 20-16, but then rallied to take a 25-24 advantage. After a Roane State timeout, the Indians were able to pick up the 27-25 opening set win.
Set Two: Raiders 25, Indians 23
The Indians fell behind 11-6 early in the second set but once again rallied to make it a tight game. Trailing, 24-23, the Indians surge forced the Raiders to take a timeout and they were able to execute and pick up the second set 25-23.
Set Three: Raiders 25, Indians 12
In the third set, the Indians had some close calls not go in their favor while the Raiders jumped out to a 7-1 lead. The momentum would stay in favor of the Raiders as they picked up the set and took a 2-1 lead.
Set Four: Raiders 26, Indians 24
The Indians quickly shook off the previous set and a big kill by Zakhia Taylor (Olive Branch) and an ace by Angie Gonzalez (Walls) put the Indians in the lead 14-9. As the set went on, the Indians took an 21-18 advantage, but the Raiders called and timeout and charged back to tie things up at 24-24. The Indians battled to force a fifth set, but the Raiders were able to take the fourth set and pick up the win.
