FULTON, Miss. – The Indians fell to Northeast, 5-3, in the opening round of the Region 23 Tournament on Tuesday.
ICC struck first in the opening frame after Jessi Smith grounded out, allowing Allie Beckley to score. The Tigers tied it in the top of the second with a solo home run.
The Indians retook the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the second after Hallie Turner scored on an error and Tamiya Martin hit a single to score Beckley.
In the top of the fifth, Northeast plated a run to make it a 3-2 game, then they tied it up with a solo home run in the sixth.
The Tigers took the lead with a two-RBI single in the top of the seventh. The Indians had runners on second and third in the bottom half of the inning, but couldn't generate a comeback bid.
Tyree had three hits in the contest, and Martin added two along with an RBI.
Alyssa Clifft was the pitcher of record, giving up two runs, zero earned, on one hit and two strikeouts in two innings of work.
The Indians finish the season with an overall record of 26-28 and 16-12 in MACCC play.
