Fulton, Miss. – In a battle of the final two unbeaten teams in the MACCC Tournament, the No. 2 Indians dropped a 6-2 decision to No. 2 Jones.
The Indians (35-6) and Jones were in a tight battle early on, but a three-run home run by the Bobcats broke the scoreless tie in the third.
In the fourth, Jones extended their lead, and added another run in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.
The Indians got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a two run scoring double by Katie Rutledge (Manchester, Tenn.), but the Indians were unable to mount a comeback in the final two frames, falling 6-2.
The loss knocked the Indians out of the winner's bracket, but they still advance to the final day of the tournament with a chance to advance to the finals against Jones.
Standing in the way of a trip to the tournament finals, is No. 9 Co-Lin who the Indians will face at 1 p.m. Saturday. With a win the Indians will take on Jones at 3:30 p.m..
