FULTON, Miss. - The No. 6 Indians bounced back from their Game 2 loss at East Central with a pair of run-rule victories over East Mississippi on Tuesday.
Game 1: No. 6 Indians 10, East Mississippi 2 (6 innings)
The Indians (23-3, 9-3 MACCC) used a five-run fifth inning to pull away for a 10-2 win over the Lions (4-25, 0-10).
Kara Hays drove in Kaitie Boatner on a bases-loaded single to start the scoring in the fifth. Caroline Clark scored Hannah Henry and McKenzie Patterson with the second-straight single of the inning. Haylee Alberson lifted a sac fly to left to plate Hays before Clark scored on a throwing error to take a 8-2 lead.
Boatner scored on a throwing error before Henry scored the game-winning run on a single by Lexi Brown in the bottom of the sixth.
Hays went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI and a run scored.
The Indians went up 3-0 when Hays scored Henry on a sac fly in the first before she scored Henry and Patterson on a double in the third.
Madison Jenkins improved to 10-0 on the season after giving up two runs and scattering three hits while striking out five in five innings of work.
Game 2: No. 6 Indians 13, East Mississippi 5 (5 innings)
The Indians saw the Lions take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and answered with six runs in the home half of the inning - highlighted by an in-the-park home run by Connor Stevens.
East Mississippi answered with a run to cut ICC's lead to 6-3 in the top of the second. The Indians answered with five runs in the home half of the inning. Stevens blasted a two-out, solo home run to get the scoring started in the inning. Hailie Moody followed with a triple and scored on a single by Jenkins. Boatner singled before she and Jenkins scored on a throwing error when Henry reached on a single. Patterson plated Henry with a double to push the Indians' lead out to 11-3.
The Lions scored a pair of runs in the top of the third and the Indians answered when Alberson singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Allyson Harrison drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth to help complete the sweep of the Lions.
Ka'Mya Hampton moved to 10-2 on the season after giving up three runs on no hits, five walks and four strikeouts in two innings of work.
