DECATUR, Miss. – The Indians split with No. 12 East Central after dropping game one, 4-1, and taking game two in thrilling fashion, 1-0.
Game 1: No. 12 East Central 4, Indians 1
After ICC took a 1-0 lead, the Warriors scored four unanswered runs to take the game one win.
The Indians struck first in the top of the third inning when Sammie Day-Jones hit a line drive and reached base on an error that allowed Camdyn Cooper to score.
Chloe McClain collected two hits while Allie Beckley, Riley Tyree, Tamiya Martin and Cooper each added one.
Alyssa Clifft was the pitcher of record as she gave up four runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out six batters in six innings of work.
Game 2: Indians 1, No. 12 East Central 0 (8 innings)
The Indians earned the split with No. 12 East Central after they picked up a 1-0 game two win in eight innings.
It was a stalemate on both sides up until the top of the eight when Chloe McClain grounded out, allowing Allie Beckley to score and give the Indians the lead.
Riley Tyree recorded a pair of hits for the Indians while Sammie Day-Jones, Jessi Smith, Emma Rose Thompson, Tamiya Martin and Beckley each added one.
Julia Shaw got the win for the Indians as she gave up zero runs on four hits and struck out two batters in eight innings.
The Indians will be back at the ICC Softball Complex on Monday, April 15 when they host East Mississippi for a conference doubleheader.
