BOONEVILLE, Miss – The Indians dropped a 11-10 decision against Frontier in their second game of the TigerFest Tournament in Booneville on Friday.
The Bobcats had a 4-0 up until the fourth inning when ICC had a five-run outing to take the lead. Jenna Whitfield scored on an error, Hallie Turner singled to score Joryie McKnight, Tamiya Martin scored on a sacrifice fly by Jessi Smith, then Riley Tyree singled to score both Camdyn Cooper and Turner.
In the bottom of the fifth, Frontier took back the lead with five runs. The Indians responded in the next frame when Alyssa Clifft doubled and scored when she stole home, then Sammie-Day Jones was walked and scored when Smith reached base on an error, followed by Sadie Stegall hitting a single to score Smith.
ICC reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh when Smith doubled to score Cooper followed by a single by Tyree that scored Smith.
The Bobcats scored a pair of runs on a two-out error in the bottom of the seventh to take the win.
Tamiya Martin had three hits in the contest while Joryie McKnight, Cooper, Tyree and Day-Jones each added two. Tyree had a team-best three RBIs as Smith added two.
The Indians will be back in action on Thursday, February 29 when they travel to Muscle Shoals, Ala. for a doubleheader with Northwest-Shoals.
