FULTON, Miss. – The No. 5 Indians opened the 2022 season with a sweep of Snead State (Ala.) on Wednesday.
Game 1: Indians 15, Parsons 0 (5 innings)
Hannah Henry (Brandon) and Kara Hays (Mooreville) each had three hits in the first game of the afternoon. Henry went 3-for-3 with a triple, pair of RBI and three runs scored. Hays also went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored.
The Indians totaled 15 hits in the win. Caroline Clark (Tuscumbia, Ala.) had a double and three RBI. Kaitie Boatner (Guntown) had a double and two RBI. Haylee Alberson (Hernando) added a pair of RBI while Hailie Moody (Haleyville, Ala.) pushed across another run.
Madison Jenkins (Cleveland) picked up the win after giving up two hits while striking out four in four innings of work.
Game 2: Indians 7, Parsons 2
The Indians' bats woke up midway through the nightcap to complete the sweep of the Parsons.
Clark and McKenzie Patterson (Corinth) each had a pair of hits in the win. Clark went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Patterson finished 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Jenkins and Rayne Rippee (Sardis) both had a double. Connor Stevens (Amory) drove in three runs while Jenkins and Hays each pushed across a run.
Ka'Mya Hampton (Pinson, Ala.) three five innings of hitless softball to pick up the win. She struck out four and walked one.
ICC will be on the road Saturday at Marion Military with Game 1 scheduled to begin at noon.
