Fulton, Miss. – In the final day of the MACCC Tournament, the No .2 Indians and No. 9 Co-Lin had a trip to the finals on the line in the first game of the day. A big fourth inning propelled the Indians to the 9-1 run-rule victory and a rematch with No. 6 Jones in the finals.
The Indians (36-6) held a 2-0 lead after three innings and exploded for six runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.
Co-Lin answered with a run in the top of the fifth, but a RBI single from Ivy Watts (Tupelo) in the sixth ended the contest and gave the Indians the 9-1 win in six innings.
Watts led the Indians going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and Brianna Posey (Florence, Ala.) drove in one run and scored twice as she went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.
Madison Jenkins (Cleveland) picked up the win to improve to 15-1 this season.
The Indians will face Jones in a quick turnaround at 3:30 p.m. in the finals. The Indians will have to win two to claim the tournament title, so a win of the next game would force another game at 6 p.m.
