FULTON, MS – Despite playing well, Itawamba Community College found themselves down early, but mounted a late charge to tie and forced overtime with Hinds Community College. The defending MACJC North Division champions would find the golden goal in overtime to hand the Indians the heartbreaking 2-1 loss.
After falling behind in the first half, the Indians had several opportunities to tie the match, but they finally found the back of the net as freshman midfielder Cameron O'Daniel (Tupelo) drove home the equalizer from 20 yards out off a Blake Lashlee (Olive Branch) assist at the 74th minute.
In the closing minutes of regulation, the Indians put together several shots, but time expired to send the game into overtime. Six minutes into overtime, the Eagles capitalized on a corner kick as Paxton Bounds headed the ball into the net to pick up the 2-1 win.
The Indians will face East Central Friday at 5:00 p.m. for their next match and their first North Division road test.
