Indians move into Top 15 of NJCAA National Tennis Tournament

PLANO, TX – Another strong day on the courts helped the Indians move into the Top 15 on Day 3 of the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament.

In the opening match of the day, Tasso Moreira dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 decision to second-seeded Juan Carlos Garcia (Tyler) in the quarterfinals of the Flight 1 singles championship bracket.

SINGLES CONSOLATION BRACKET

Flight 2: Joan Mateu Ramis Pascual defeated Ferran Bonastre (Wallace St), 8-5
Flight 3: Jack Semper defeated Adrian Weisser (Harford), 8-2
Flight 4: Cade Teeple defeated Denzel Jones (Meridian), 8-2
Flight 5: Knox Waterer defeated Stetson Isringhausen (Lewis & Clark), 8-3
Flight 6: Ben Orr defeated Cade Cooley (East Central), 8-6

Due to the chance of rain on Thursday, the singles consolation semifinals will begin at 8 a.m. at the Courts McKinney Tennis Center in McKinney, TX.

DOUBLES CONSOLATION BRACKET

Flight 2: Semper and Waterer defeated Logan Brandner and Ethan Kraft (Illinois Valley), 8-1
Flight 3: Orr and Teeple defeated Tate Baucum and Luke Bruntlett (East Central), 8-4

The Indians' jumped three sports to move to No. 15 with 12 points. Cowley leads the tournament with 36 points with Tyler (34), Easter Florida (34) and host Collin (30) still in the chase for the 2024 national championship.
