ICC’s international duo set to complete on national tennis stage

FULTON, MS - Riding the momentum of a standout season, Itawamba Community College sophomores Rayssa Domingues and Lucia Rubio are set to represent the Lady Indians on the national stage as they compete at the 2025 NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship, hosted May 3-7 at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas.

Both student-athletes earned All-MACCC honors following stellar sophomore campaigns.

Domingues, a native of Bebedouro, Brazil, led the team at the No. 1 singles position and finished with a 12-1 overall record. Her only defeat came at the hands of Jones College's Helen Hernandez, who ultimately claimed the MACCC No. 1 Singles crown. Domingues' consistency and dominance throughout the season earned her the title of MACCC No. 1 Singles runner-up and a No. 21 national singles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Rubio, from Valencia, Spain, mirrored her teammate's success in the No. 2 singles slot. She compiled an 11-2 record, with a nearly perfect showing against conference opponents including Hinds, Co-Lin, Meridian, Northeast, Northwest, East Central, and Southwest.

Together, Domingues and Rubio formed a formidable pairing at the top of the doubles lineup. The duo finished 8-6 on the season and are currently ranked No. 25 in the nation in doubles by the ITA.
