Fulton, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's basketball program opened the 2021-22 season with a 69-51 win over Mississippi Delta Monday night.
At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Indians trailed 14-13, but then outscored the Lady Trojans 25-9 in the second to take a 38-23 lead at halftime.
The Lady Indians (1-0) continued to extend their lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Trojans 21-8. In the fourth, the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Indians 20-10 but the big ICC lead was too much to overcome.
Leading the Lady Indians' offensive attack was R'Daztiny Harris (Hickory Flat) with 16 points, followed by Demetria Shephard (Pontotoc) with 11 points and Amelya Hatch (Ripley) with 10 points.
The Lady Indians will travel to Booneville Thursday to renew their rivalry with Northeast at 5:30 p.m.
