Fitch, Buford, Dunn earn postseason honors

FULTON, Miss. – Lauren FitchShaniyah Buford and Constance Dunn were honored with postseason accolades for their performances during the 2017-18 basketball season.

Fitch was named first-team Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Women's All-State and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region.

The five-foot-four sophomore point guard from Decatur, Ala., averaged 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in her final season in Fulton. She had a season-high in points (28) and rebounds (10) at Coahoma on February 12th and scored in double figures in 14 games this season. Fitch dished out a season-best 10 assists at Wallace-Selma on November 27th and had six or more assists in eight games.

Fitch was also selected to participate in the MACJC All-Star game. She scored 14 points and grabbed three rebounds while dishing out four assists to help lead the North All-Stars to a 76-74 victory and earned the game's Most Valuable Player honor.  

Buford, a five-foot-nine freshman guard from Abbeville, averaged a team-high 15.1 points while adding 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assist per game to earn first-team MACJC North Women's All-State. Buford had a season-high in points (27) and rebounds (10) against Southern-Shreveport on December 9 and scored in double figures in 16 of the 21 games she played.

Dunn, a five-foot-eight sophomore guard from Fulton, was an honorable mention selection on the MACJC North Women's All-State team. She averaged 8.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Dunn scored a season-high 21 points against Northwest on February 22 and scored in double figures seven times this past season. She had a season-high nine rebounds against Wallace-Selma on November 2nd and at Northwest on January 22th. Dunn was also selected to participate in the MACJC All-Star game. 

The Indians finished 14-8 on the season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the MACJC Tournament.
