Lady Indians' rally comes up short at Northeast, 63-60

BOONEVILLE, Miss. – The Lady Indians saw their late rally come up short in a 63-60 loss at Northeast Mississippi Community College on Monday night.

The Lady Tigers (11-5, 4-1 MACJC North) held a 62-53 lead with just over a minute left in the game before the Lady Indians (8-5, 2-2 MACJC North) went on an 8-1 run capped off by a three pointer from Lauren Fitch (Decatur, Ala.) with seven seconds left to play.

ICC quickly fouled and caught a break when Northeast missed a pair of free throws. The Lady Indians took a timeout with five seconds on the clock to advance the ball to midcourt. A great defensive effort out of the Lady Tigers forced Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) to miss a rushed NBA-range three at the buzzer and secure the victory.

The Lady Indians went five minutes, four seconds without a basket in the fourth quarter to allow Northeast to take the 62-53 advantage.

Fitch scored a game-high 18 points and had 6 rebounds while Buford finished the night with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Adallice Young led Northeast with 15 points – one of four Lady Tigers to score in double figures.

Next up for the ICC will be East Mississippi Community College on Thursday night in Fulton. The Lady Indians tip things off at 6:00 and the Indians will follow at 8:00 p.m. Both games will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/RED.

It will be the fifth annual Pack the House Night at the Davis Event Center featuring Meet the Tribe during halftime of the women's and men's games. ICC alumni members and their families will receive free admission upon showing their Alumni Association ID at the gate. Area baseball and softball players wearing their team jerseys will be get free admission and a chance to get autographs from members of the ICC baseball, golf, softball, and tennis teams in the second half of the games.
