Lady Indians' rally comes up short at Northeast, 63-60

BOONEVILLE, Miss. – The Lady Indians saw their late rally come up short in a 63-60 loss at Northeast Mississippi Community College on Monday night.

The Lady Tigers (11-5, 4-1 MACJC North) held a 62-53 lead with just over a minute left in the game before the Lady Indians (8-5, 2-2 MACJC North) went on an 8-1 run capped off by a three pointer from Lauren Fitch (Decatur, Ala.) with seven seconds left to play.

ICC quickly fouled and caught a break when Northeast missed a pair of free throws. The Lady Indians took a timeout with five seconds on the clock to advance the ball to midcourt. A great defensive effort out of the Lady Tigers forced Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) to miss a rushed NBA-range three at the buzzer and secure the victory.

The Lady Indians went five minutes, four seconds without a basket in the fourth quarter to allow Northeast to take the 62-53 advantage.

Fitch scored a game-high 18 points and had 6 rebounds while Buford finished the night with 9 points and 5 rebounds.

Adallice Young led Northeast with 15 points – one of four Lady Tigers to score in double figures.
