Lady Indians fall to Southwest in MACJC Tourney, 60-52

ELLISVILLE, MS – The Lady Indians dropped a 60-52 decision to the Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears at Jones County Junior College in the quarterfinals of the MACJC State Tournament on Monday.
The Lady Indians (16-7) did not allow a field goal until the .05 mark of the first quarter and built a 12-point lead at the 3:15 mark of the second quarter before a spirited rally by the Lady Bears (17-7) to make it a 25-21 game in favor of ICC at the break.
Southwest outscored the Lady Indians 19-11 in the third quarter behind seven points from Danyelle Lewis with Alissa Adam scoring nine points in the final frame, including making six-straight free throws to put the game on ice in the final seconds of the game.
Adam scored 15 of her game-high 19 points from the free throw line. Southwest went 25 of 37 from the charity stripe as a team. ICC connected on 12 of its 15 attempts from the line.
Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) scored 18 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had four steals for the Lady Indians. Zaida Cox (Ripley) added seven points and nine rebounds in the loss.
ICC will play the waiting game to see if its season will continue in next week's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College.
