FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College baseball team defeated Snead State Community College 7-6 in a back-and-forth battle courtesy of a wild pitch that allowed Kaleb Barnes (Pontotoc) to score the game winning run in the final inning.
The Indians (10-3) fell behind 6-3 after a five run third inning by the Parsons, but the tribe began chipping away at the lead thanks to the long ball.
Austin Carpenter (Belmont) cut the lead to 6-4 on his solo home run and two batters later Barnes hit a solo shot of his own to cut to pull within one run in the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Tyreque Reed (Houlka) single to center allowing Drake Wallace (Amory) to score and tie the game at 6-6.
Barnes drew a four pitch walk to start the final frame but moved over to third after a Keith Stepter (Hernando) sacrifice and a wild pitch. With Ben Seay (Mooreville) at bat, the Parsons' pitcher let one sail to the backstop allowing Barnes to score and give the Indians the 7-6 walk off victory.
Sam Harrington (Mooreville) picked up the win after throwing a perfect top of the seventh where he struck out two.
