Big inning helps ICC sweep Lake Land

FULTON, MS - The Indians sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning to complete the sweep of the Lake Land (IL) Lakes with a 14-2 Game 2 win in five innings on Saturday.
Leading 3-0, ICC (9-1) saw Russ Payne (Fulton) and Ben Seay (Mooreville) score on an one-out triple by Delvin Zinn (Pontotoc) to open the flood gates in the second.
Zinn scored on a single by Drake Rowton (Marion, AR) to take a 6-0 lead before a two-run double by Bryan Malone (Belmont), a RBI double by Austin Carpenter (Belmont), a two-run double by Seay and a RBI single by Zinn rounded out the scoring before the Lakers (1-5) could get out of the inning.
Seay added an insurance run for the Indians on a single by Rowton, who finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored.
Blake Bennett (Memphis, TN) picked up his third win of the season after giving up two runs on one hit and one walk in three innings of work. Blake Appel (Gulf Port) and Jonas White (Lewisburg) each struck out two batters in an inning of work to close the door in five innings.
The Indians will hit the road for the first time this seaso when they travel to Decatur, AL on Tuesday, March 1 to take on Calhoun Community College.
