Lady Indians, Lady Eagles match cancelled due to weather

RAYMOND, Miss. – Mother Nature ultimately won the day when the ICC and Hinds met up Saturday afternoon.

The women's match was tied 4-4 when rain and lightning forced the coaches to cancel the No. 6 singles match after Riley Crouch took the first set 6-4.

Julianna Alves and Maggie Creekmore earned a 9-7 win in No. 1 doubles over Paula Gutierrez and Danna Gonzalez. Alves and Creekmore went into extra sets in their singles matches. Alves knocked off Gutierrez 8-6, 2-6, 1-0 (8) in No. 1 singles while Creekmore won 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (7) over Gonzalez in No. 2 singles.

Caroline Feguson rallied to force a tiebreaker set in No. 4 singles before picked up the 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (6) win over Aryelle Waters.

The Lady Indians won six matches in March and will look to carry that momentum heading into postseason play in April.
