Johnson named NJCAA Region Coach of the Year

FULTON, MS – Coach Paul Johnson was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 23 Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Indians to a share of the region championship and the Indians to their second-straight region title.
Both the Lady Indians and Indians have been ranked nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) throughout the season with the Lady Indians currently ranked 18th and the Indians holding the No. 16 spot.
Johnson is in his 39th season as head coach of the Indians and 12th as the women's coach. During that time the Okolona native has received the Herschel Stephens Award and Mississippi Tennis Association Coach of the Year in 2008 and was inducted into the 2009 ICC Athletic Hall of Fame, 2009 NJCAA Men's Athletic Hall of Fame, and the 2010 MACJC Hall of Fame.
The Lady Indians will participate in the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson, AZ while the Indians will travel to Plano, TX from the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament at the Collin County Tennis Facilities.
