No. 21 Lady Indians take down No. 17 Meridian

MERIDIAN, MS – It was a battle of nationally ranked programs on Tuesday as the No. 21 Itawamba Community College women's squad and Meridian Community College went head-to-head.

The Lady Indians (3-0) would emerge victorious in the clash of MACJC powers as they handed Meridian their fourth loss, 5-4.

The squads would split in singles competition with Andria Barnes (Mooreville), Anna Claire Griffin (Iuka) and Aliesha Hudson (Yazoo City) picking up wins. Taylor Patterson (Munford, TN) and Kacey Byrd (Mooreville) both dropped heartbreakers in three sets.

With singles being a tie, the score was settled in double action. The duo of Ivy Robbins (Pontotoc) and Griffin picked up an 8-2 win. Madison Scott (Mooreville) and Barnes rallied to picked up an 8-4 win that proved to be the difference.

The Lady Indians will return to action at the Johnson-Partlow Courts on Friday, March 27 to take one No. 18 Hinds Community College.
