FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore guard Jestiny Dixon (Foley, Ala.) has earned her third Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week recognition of the season, according to an announcement Tuesday.
Dixon played a key role in helping the Lady Indians to a 2-0 record last week, averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. She posted a triple-double in the victory over East Mississippi with 21 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 11 steals. Coach Robin Porter spoke highly of Dixon's demeanor both on and off the court and how proud she is of her for earning the recognition.
"Jestiny has just been tremendous for the Lady Indians," Porter said. "I'm just so proud of her hard work, her dedication and everything that she does for the program. Words cannot express what Jestiny has brought to the table."
Dixon currently averages 13 points per game, which is 12th in the MACCC. She is also 7th in the conference in rebounds per game with an average of 7.4.
The Lady Indians will begin postseason play on Monday, March 10, in the second round of the Region 23 Tournament at 5 p.m. in the Davis Event Center. They will host the winner between Gulf Coast and Holmes.
