SENATOBIA, MS – An ice-cold start to the contest doomed a possible late rally in the Lady Indians' 68-60 division loss to Northwest on Monday.
ICC (14-5, 6-2 MACJC North) fell behind 21-12 after making one of their first 17 attempts from the floor in the first quarter. Northwest (12-4, 5-3 MACJC North) took advantage of the Lady Indians' 9-of-43 shooting performance in the first half to take a 41-25 lead into the break.
Trailing by 19 in the third quarter, Asia Partlow (Tupelo) hit a three from the corner to make it a 53-40 advantage for the Lady Rangers inside two minutes left in the quarter, but that would be as close as the Lady Indians could get until closing the final minute of the contest on a 5-0 run to pull final score to an eight-point difference.
Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc) paced the Lady Indians with 15 points while Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) collected her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Alontra Tucker (Ashland) added 10 points in the loss.
Northwest's Sara Lytle led all scorers with 27 points.
ICC will look to rebound from their second division loss of the season when they host Holmes on Thursday for its annual Pink Out Night at the Davis Event Center.
