
Jones County defeats Lady Indians on buzzer beater

FULTON, MS – A Tatyana Loften buzzer beater handed the Itawamba Community College women's basketball team a heart breaking 60-58 loss to start the second half of the season.
The Lady Indians (9-3, 2-0 MACJC North) over came a poor shooting performance to trail by only two, 23-21, at halftime and put together a 12-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to take their second lead of the game.
After extended their lead to four points, the Lady Indians found themselves trailing in the closing seconds as Zan Ratcliffe hit a three pointer to put the Lady Bobcats (9-2, 2-0 MACJC South) up one, 57-56.
Iesha Mays (Mound Bayou) tied the contest with 2.4 remaining, but Lofton was able to get off the game winning shot right as the buzzer sounded to give the Lady Bobcats the 60-58 win.
Alontra Tucker (Lamar) led the Lady Indians with 16 points and Erika Toney (Horn Lake) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Loften paced the Lady Bobcats with a game-high 15 points, followed by Ratcliffe with 11.
The Lady Indians will hit the road Thursday for a non-conference showdown with Snead State Community College. Tipoff from Boaz, AL is set for 5:30 pm.
