BOONEVILLE, MS – Down 27-26 at the break, the Lady Indians outscored the Lady Tigers 36-22 in the second half to take sole possession of first place in the North with a 62-49 win over Northeast Mississippi Community College on Thursday.
"We didn't do a whole lot defensively in the first half," said ICC head coach Nanci Gray. "We challenged the girls to make something happen in the second half and we did by creating scoring opportunities through playing with a lot more intensity on defense than we did in the first half."
Sophomore Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) scored a game-high 20 points and collected six rebounds in the victory.
"Ty did just what we expected her to do," said Gray. "She came into the game knowing what was on the line and what she had to do to help us stay in the hunt for another the North Division championship."
Freshman LaToya Collins (Jackson) added 11 points while sophomore Jasmine Hampton (Bruce) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds along with scoring eight points in the win.
LaTonya Gadison and Angelia Allen led the Lady Tigers with 11 points each in the loss.
