Lady Indians overcome second-half struggles, downs Holmes 58-51

GOODMAN, MS – Sophomore Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) and freshman Latoya Collins (Jackson) record double-doubles as the Itawamba Community College Lady Indians picked up a 58-51 win over the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.
Baker scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Collins added 16 points and 11 boards to help the Lady Indians improve snap a two-game losing streak.
The Lady Indians (9-5, 3-0 MACJC North) hit 48-percent from the floor in the first half, including going 6-of-12 from three, to take a 35-21 lead at the half, but struggled from the floor in the second half allowing Holmes (6-8, 1-2 MACJC North) to cut a 15-point advantage to five inside a minute left in the game.
Jasmine Hampton (Bruce) added 12 points while fellow sophomore Ayanna Lynn (Indianola) had a game and season-high 6 assists for the Lady Indians.
Tamia Grady led Holmes with 19 while Dasha Adams added 15 in the loss.
