Indians outlast Southwest Tenn. in game one

FULTON, Miss. – A four run fourth inning for the Indians (9-0) proved to be enough to pick up the victory in game one over Southwest Tennessee.
Despite the visiting Saluqis hitting two home runs in the their three run fifth frame, the Indians held on to a 5-4 lead and then added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, earning the 7-4 win.
Connor Lewis (Corinth) got things started in with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first, but the Indians saw the Saluqis tie the contest in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth frame, the tribe plated four runs as LaBryant Siddell (Belden) drew a abases loaded walk, followed by Cason Milliorn (Olive Branch) pushing across two runs when he reached on an error. Lewis also reached on an error to score the innings final run.
The Saluqis did not go away quietly as they answered with three runs in the following frame, but a RBI single by Hunter Nabors (Montevallo, Ala.) and a RBI sacrifice fly by Milliorn in the sixth push the lead out to three, 7-4.
Hunter Hughes (Saltillo) closed out the contest, recording the final out on a called strike three to give the Indians the victory.
Kris Peet (Olive Branch) improves to 3-0 this season as he struck out two in five innings.
