Millington, Tenn. – In their first game at the Babe Howard Classic, Itawamba Community College baseball rallied to pick up an 8-5 win over Lincoln Trail College Saturday.
The Indians (6-2) fell behind 3-0 in the second, but a RBI double by Ty Roberson (Ecru) in the bottom of the second and a two-run home run by Bo Rock (Amory) in the bottom of the third tied the game at three a piece.
In the fourth, the teams exchanged home runs with Lincoln Trail hitting a solo shot and Gray Bane (Olive Branch) hitting a two-run to put the Indians up 5-4.
Lincoln Trail tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the sixth, but the Indians benefitted from another home run in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead. Matthew Martinolich (Ellisville) hit a two-run home run to put the Indians up 7-5, and Jackson Lee (Calhoun City) capped off the game with a RBI single.
The three-run lead was in danger in the top of the seventh but Will Verdung (Corinth) forced a ground ball to end the threat and the game.
Tyler Morrison (Jasper, Ala.) picked up the win in the game and Verdung earned the save.
